As learning professionals, we have a responsibility to learn about the new tools and technologies that are coming out that can help us and our organizations. We need to be life-long learners.

New tools and technologies that have emerged over the last few years have changed the way we interact and work with each other. Without actually using them yourself, many new digital tools are very difficult “get”. Whether it is blogs, Twitter, social media, PLNs or any of the seemingly endless technologies that pop up on our radar, the best way to learn about them is to simply dive in and give them a try.

In this program you will be introduced to a range tools and technologies that can help you in your personal and professional development. The aim is for you to spend a little time each week learning and expanding your skills. You can easily complete the activities, usually in 15-20 minutes a week and we’ve even built in some periodic ‘catch up’ time to deal with any unexpected obstacles.

Regardless of whether you are a trainer, instructional designer, e-learning developer, learning manager, consultant or anything else for that matter we are confident you will come away from this experience with new ideas that will help you work smarter.

Based on the popular and very successful “23 Things” project (The original program this one is based on was designed by Helene Blowers, Community Manager for WorldShare Applications at OCLC, and is loosely based upon Stephen Abram’s article, 43 Things I (or You) might want to do this year (Information Outlook Feb 2006) and the web site 43 Things.), Learn Camp is a is a self-directed program. Each week, we’ll talk about one or more of the items from our program and encourage you to try it out and reflect on it.

To get started, head over to http://learncamp.wordpress.com. Read the "About" section, sign up for reminders and information, and get started on this week's task. (or start at the beginning w/ Week #1 - https://learncamp.wordpress.com/2015/08/10/week-1-getting-started/.)

A big 'Thank you' to Mike Taylor (@tmiket) for all his time and effort in developing this experience!
